This painting, by Andrea Mantegna, depicts Jesus on the cross. The I. N. R. I. sign (at the top of the middle cross) is a typical artistic interpretation of the Latin description Iesvs Nazarenvs Rex Iudaeorum (meaning, "Jesus of Nazarus, King of the Jews").
Mantegna created this painting on wood, known as The Calvary, between 1457-1459. It is currently owned by the Louvre, in Paris.
