Pact of Judas - Money for Betrayal Philosophy Visual Arts Disasters

In this tempera on wood, Duccio portrays the pact which Judas made with the religious leaders:  He would betray Jesus for thirty pieces of silver.  In this scene, he is getting his bag of money.

Duccio (whose full name was Duccio di Buoninsegna) created this work between 1308-11.  It is currently owned by the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo, in Siena, Italy.
