Puzzled why the religious leaders were so upset with Jesus, Pilate interrogated his prisoner. After his questioning, he could find no fault with the accused.
Tintoretto interpreted this event with an oil-on-canvas, entitled "Christ Before Pilate," which he painted between 1566-67. It is in Venice, at the Scuola Grande di San Rocco.
