When he finished his examination of Jesus, Pilate could find no fault with him. When he announced his opinion, his words were not what the people wanted to hear.
In 1510, Lucas van Leyden created this engraving - Ecce Homo - to memorialize that scene of the trial. It is now owned by the Rijksmuseum, in Amsterdam.
