Amsterdam - Narrow, Gabled Residences

Some of the row houses in Amsterdam are so narrow they are not much wider than the front door.  Look at the left side of this photo for one example. 

It is not unusual to see furniture, for such a home, entering the house through the windows.  (Look for the hoist at the very top of the narrow residence.)
