This woodcut (by Sebastian Munster) depicts the scene at Strasbourg, on the 14th of February 1349, when the Jews were burned - Die Juden werden verbrennt.

Sebastian Munster (1488-1552) was a German cartographer, cosmographer and Hebrew scholar.  His work Cosmographia (1544; "Cosmography") was the earliest-known German description of the world and a major work.  About forty editions were issued between 1544-1628.
