JFK at Hotel Texas in Ft Worth - November 22, 1963

The day of his assassination, President Kennedy gave a speech at the Hotel Texas in Ft. Worth. A light rain was falling that morning, but thousands of people were at the hotel to greet him. Referencing the weather, he said:

“There are no faint hearts in Fort Worth, and I appreciate your being here this morning. Mrs. Kennedy is organizing herself. It takes longer, but, of course, she looks better than we do when she does it.”

Addressing America's need to be “second to none,” in defense and in space, he also talked about the country's economic growth and “the willingness of citizens of the United States to assume the burdens of leadership.”

Well-received by the crowd, the President personally shook hands with as many people as he could. From his view, he saw many smiling faces.
