"Negro Pilots" - Tuskegee ExperimentThis government-produced documentary - entitled "Negro Pilots" - introduces the American public to the first graduates of the Tuskegee Institute's military-flight-training program. Lt. Colonel Benjamin O. Davis, Jr., is among the early cadets. The pilots trained on P-40s, then went to Italy as the country's "first Negro pursuit squad." Colonel Davis was the unit's commander. Each pilot is described as: A capable, fearless fighter - an able defender of the American way of life.
