Japanese defenders, on Iwo Jima, installed 127mm dual-mount anti-aircraft guns to help them fight against damaging Allied air raids. This gun, which covered Iwo's eastern beaches, was knocked out by U.S. forces before invading Marines landed on the island's beaches.
