Bruegel the Elder - Christ Carrying the Cross
Pieter Bruegel the Elder, a Flemish painter, incorporates a windmill into his scene of Jesus carrying the cross. It is another example of individuals adding their own time and place to the story of Jesus.
The oil on oak panel, which Bruegel painted in 1564, is owned by the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna, Austria.
