Jesus on the Road to Emmaus

Jesus on the Road to Emmaus Visual Arts Philosophy

Pieter Coecke van Aelst (1502-1550), also known as Pieter van Aelst, was a Flemish painter who helped to spread Renaissance ideas to the Northern part of the Netherlands.  Many of his works were lost during the 16th century.

This painting, Christ and His Disciples on Their Way to Emmaus, is part of a private collection.  It is uncertain when Coecke created it.
