Judas Leads the Soldiers into the Garden

Judas Leads the Soldiers into the Garden Tragedies and Triumphs Philosophy Trials

In this detail from "Agony in the Garden," by Andrea Mantegna, we see Judas leading a band of men into the Garden of Gethsemane.  Their plan was to arrest Jesus, after Judas identified Him.

Mantegna created this tempera on wood, c. 1459.  It is currently maintained at the National Gallery in London.
