Stamp Act - Embossed Paper Famous Historical Events Law and Politics American Revolution American History

When Parliament passed the Stamp Act, on the 22nd of March 1765, American Colonists were required to use specially embossed paper (produced in Britain) for all legal documents and masthead newspapers.

This image depicts how that embossed stamp appeared on legal paper.  Supplies of the special paper, plus sheets of stamps, arrived in Savannah, Georgia on the 5th of December, 1765 aboard the Speedwell (a British ship).
