Stamp Act-One-Penny Stamps, 1765

This image depicts a proof sheet of one-penny stamps which Parliament required American colonists to use on newspapers, pamphlets and other papers "being larger than half a sheet and not exceeding one whole sheet."

In imposing the Stamp-Act tax, Britain's Parliament infuriated American Colonials.
